BE A PART OF THE ADVENTURE!

FIGHTING HOMELESSNESS ONE MILE AT A TIME

THEY CAME TO RUN AND WALK,

THEY STAYED FOR THE COMMUNITY!

Samaritan Running and Walking is a community of fun, caring individuals that love to run, walk and have a mission of raising both awareness and money for those experiencing homelessness. Funds raised provide Coloradans experiencing homelessness with emergency assistance, food, clothing, shelter, counseling, education and life-skills training to get them back on their road to success.

A NOTE FROM CAPTAIN, JESSICA O'CONNOR

Dear Runners and Walkers,

Running, walking, and hiking have always been a part of my life, so I am honored to be the new captain for the running and walking section of Team Samaritan. I’d like to give a big shout out to Joe Lowrey for his leadership of the running and walking team! He really inspired me to take on this new challenge.

Please allow me to tell you a little bit about myself and why I am passionate about Team Samaritan. I am a wife of 11 years, mother to three children between the ages of 5 and 9, a wife, a Catholic, and an engineer in the renewable energy industry. My kids attend Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School, where we are also parishioners and I volunteer as cross-country coach.

I am not fast. I don’t do marathons. I just have a real joy for running. When I mix running with prayer or listening to Catechism in a Year, my mind, body, and soul are activated. I feel primed to hear the Holy Spirit. As captain of this team, I hope to share in the joy of walking and running with you all! I hope that together we bring attention to our sport while finding companionship and purpose to serve our community.

As a team we will set goals to raise money for Samaritan House - which houses and feeds hundreds of unhoused people. We will train for upcoming local events such as the Colfax Marathon and Bolder Boulder. We will invite our friends to join our community. We will volunteer our time to serve at Samaritan House. We will show our faith through our actions, and we will be conduits for the love of the LORD.

As it is said in one of my favorite choir songs (by Father Peter Scholtes): “They’ll know we are Christians by our love.” Let’s show it to the world!

Thank you for your interest in our team.

Most Sincerely,

Jessica O’Connor
